Literally just focus on making firefox better. Which isn't even an option on the survey.

It's crazy I needed to enter "develop Firefox" as an other field for what Mozilla's main focus should be.

It's a survey for what the Mozilla Foundation should be focussing on. Firefox development happens at the Mozilla Corporation (which is a subsidiary of the Foundation, but operates pretty independently).

I doubt they are that far apart

i wonder if it's a sign of things to come from the foundation since they're never going to be able to viably compete with the likes of google or microsoft.

They shouldn't try to complete

Find a few seminiche markets and run with it. They need to create something useful that people would pay for and then jump on it early and spend years getting it good.

I think they really should branch into cybersecurity. They could start by having the Mozilla foundation evaluate and provide support for Foss developers

There's a whole question about what I think is most important in AI.

Nothing. AI is not an important part of developing our society. Maybe it could have been, but that was taken over and dominated for profit almost immediately.

Societal developments are caused by profit

AI is not profitable. It is mostly a money hole

Independence from Google's financial control. I've been using Firefox since before it was called Firefox (20+ years), and it's pretty scary that it only survives because Google wants to avoid browser monopoly allegations.

As long as they don't get away from Google by adapting Googles business model and data collection.

More focus on Firefox, such as a simple change such as a more modern looking default userChrome.css theme to attract new users

I'm beginning to develop a small hatred of Mozilla

They need to go into PR emergency mode. On the one side you have the very technical crowd who sees how Firefox is not private and ad driven. On the other side there is the non technical crowd who sees Firefox as an ancient relic from the past.

The need to generate positive press for once

Mozilla has already fulfilled as my hopes. They release truly free software of the highest quality. Firefox is an excellent browser and ecosystem and thinderbird is an excellent email client (or so I hear - I use only web-based email). My dream is for them to remain faithful to their own principles.

Clean up the terrible underlying code like how user accounts are stored.

Rip out the closed source garbage like pocket.

Restore user choice like allowing any extension the user wants regardless of mozilla approval.
