Finally back home and settled.

Everything took so much longer today due to the massive traffic accident on the Nepean highway being blocked in 3 lanes.

Entry to car park of shopping centre was closed and escalator was borked.

Was too tired so I didnโ€™t get to look at some stuff I wanted to and I didnโ€™t get the potatoes. Iโ€™ll get them next week.

Anyway glad to be safely home with all the stuff happening.

The leave relaxation has kicked in. Goodbye work, hello good times!!!

Im so fucking excited to get the car on Saturday. Maaaaaaan I think I'll drive all night lol

Edit: sorted free entry and $350 of free drink cards at 3 clubs ๐Ÿ˜‚ fuck yeah!

If you google "birthday specials" you'll see a bunch of clubs that offer stuff for free on your birthday.

Even fluffy is getting in on the action:

Mental health wise I've been in real crisis for the past couple of weeks but I seem to have come back from the brink somewhat.

Is it weird that I don't remember large chunks (think years) of my childhood?

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Glad to see you back ๐Ÿ’œ I noticed your absence but wondered if you were just lurking ๐Ÿ’œ

I'ma place this under a spoiler just in caseI also am missing a lot from my childhood, but that's the cptsd. Trauma tends to cause a repression, though I assume you know this. Please don't take me saying this, as telling you what's up. That's just my experience.

Also, I do think some memories do fade naturally anyway, especially as we age.

I hope things take a turn for the better for you WS ๐Ÿ’œ

[โ€“] wscholermann@aussie.zone 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It's interesting because a lot probably is suppression but I don't know how much is just due to old age.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

memories do fade and change with age.

Well, shit. My line up manager had been given the golden handshake. And the new line up manager is my previous boss who is probably the biggest asshole on the planet. soo..... yeah I think its time to jump ship. the current direct manager stays the same, and I adore them but I'm just not prepared to work for the asshole again.

WHY are they doing this stuff in november ffs?!

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not the best time to start looking BUT a great time to polish up your CV and such.

Start spamming applications and you might get your foot in early in the new year.

Good luck!

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yeah but any time working for this prick is a bad time, so nothing ventured nothing gained. Just knowing I plan to leave makes it bearable, even if it takes a few months to land something. plus might be the fun to be a fly on the wall and watch shit go down. "manager" has no business managing. Be that his small team or half the damn department.

Found a backpack in the front garden today and these are the contents

Most of it I understand and it obviously belongs to someone with not so very good intentions. You've got syringes, keys, tools, gloves, hammer, crowbar etc... but a TV remote (and no TV) and a pair socks has me fairly perplexed.

Don't need this right now but as they say bad luck comes in threes just waiting for #3

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

The remote may be a generic one used to see if it opens garage doors to get into houses. The gloves, tools and more keys than one person could reasonably own do suggest break ins.

I know a neighbour had an intruder a few years ago and when they got arrested cops found the person had stolen his keys. So thatโ€™s probably it. They might take them intending to come back.

The socks may be used to tie the arm off for injecting, or a spare pair. But with the filters and syringes there itโ€™s probably the former.

Baffled by the plug in light (is that what that is?) but maybe itโ€™s hands free lighting that wouldnโ€™t be too bright.

Perhaps the cops might like a look but not sure what they can do if nothing has happened yet.

Perhaps you might like to babysit a nice loud doggo for a little while til things are less sketchy.

Edit: Security camera is also a great idea if possible

The socks might be for deadening the sound of the hammer breaking something. I too reckon it's time to borrow Hambam for a week or two. Or even Butters - who is quite capable of sneering a burglar to death imo.

[โ€“] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Bastard stole someoneโ€™s remote

Hope youโ€™re doing ok and your mum is feeling better, too

Worrying... sounds like it's time for hambam to come help guard the joint for a bit (if he's up for it). I hope you don't get that unlucky trio

The switch to video feature on Spotify is pretty cool. The way it switches to exactly where the audio track is playing in the video on command. Probably a gimmick I'll get over but for now, I'm enjoying watching music videos I haven't seen for ages (or never seen).

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The junkie lady locked her junkie boyfriend out and now they're screaming at each other.

I fucking hate living here.

Edit: it's over. Im not going to let that shit get me down. Let the joys of annual leave begin!

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 3 days ago (2 children)

WHEW. I am tuckered. The house is starting to look a lot emptier, though!

Today's tasks were...

  • uni meeting online
  • misc admin (the REA still hasn't arranged what time I'll pick up the keys tomorrow... truly useless)
  • Packing stationery
  • Dismantling the bed frame and vacuuming so much dust underneath
  • Filling in the holes from the blinds now removed (mostly my friend did it...)
  • Dismantling the bookshelf
  • Consolidated op shop clothes, books and shoes (which my friend generously dropped off)
  • put the clothes and shoes to throw out in the bin
  • MOVED OUT ALL MY OUTDOOR PLANTS (except for two heavy planter boxes) ;_;

Swung by MKS on my way back to treat myself to some takeaway curries for dinner.

Now my next big task is the kitchen items... need to juggle this against the timing of unplugging my fridge on Sun am.

That's enough for today though I think. I'm proud of myself and endlessly grateful to my friend.

Thursday. Nearly the weekend. Give me strength.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Leave day for tomorrow approved!

Now the tough decision.

Grocery shop today plus petrol or leave it for tomorrow.

Decisions, decisions...

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago

do the errands today so you have the whole of tomorrow off free.

These strawberries aren't doing great yet as they're still getting settled from being moved from my partner's mother who lived in NSW :)

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 8 points 4 days ago (5 children)

The packening begins... in an hour, I am still le tired.

I ate half a bag of chips yesterday for dinner, that was not a good idea.

Everyone's strawbs are looking so much better than mine. I'm not the jealous type but I am now!

[โ€“] dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm just growing bird food, no actual strawberries.

Ok on the topic of strawbs - if anyone is around the Mornington Peninsula, Sunny Ridge Strawberry farm often sell big boxes of strawberries. Was $10 for a giant box and they were sweet. Most of them are in the freezer now, but very good value if anyone's ever down that way :)

Mr Piffles, The World's First Magic Performing Chihuahua died last week - a day after Toby. I met Mr Piffles in Vegas back in 2016 and he was a very good boy indeed.

So my uncle's cat, Casper, had to be euthanised a little while back (he was 20yo, and he just got too sick to go on). So they had an excess of wet cat food and litter. Mickey loves it, though I have to supplement with normal wet food, because this food is for cats with urinary tract issues which I think has a lower amount of taurine. This is fine, he gets a variety anyway.

My issue is it's Purina, which is owned by Nestle. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Why does the cat have to like the food made by one of the most unethical companies that exist today? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Pulled the longest hair out of my shoulder. Blonde, curly, and about 6cm in length. Sadly did not have a matching one on the other shoulder, so it had to go.

Edit:

stardew valley stuffoh also, I've been playing stardew valley on mobile, and it plays really well!! There's a few options for controller, but I went with the visible joystick and buttons. But yeah, it's a great game, and I know I'm late to the party (patient gamers anyone lol), but it's so fun! I've been super casual, I occasionally look something up but haven't spoiled myself with its depth (because I know it's a deep game).
