Welcome to c/electoralism! politics isn't just about voting or running for office, but this community is.

MODERATORS

put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!

from @CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net:

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

... Well, it looks like I've failed to call another election by underestimating how fucking bad at politics the democrats are. They look to be doing bad in the congressional elections too. Goddamn. Technically it isn't over and I think the math means she can still pull through (I'm loaded and cannot currently do basic math), but jeeze.

So MAGA movement has infiltrated local election boards? Why that's even a possible strategy is wild!

Ameri-brains bros and sis, can you explain the mind of the dem voter who supports arms embargo (allegedly 60 % of dems or thereabouts), and then goes punch in for kopmala in california or new york?

Even taking labor aristocracy mindspace, I don’t understand it, there is no (not 0.001, just flat 0) chance your vote changes anything, or any restrictions on women/lgbt/drugs/homeless will come because of your vote, so like, what gives?

If nothing big changes, we might be able to call a Trump win within 2 hours.

The Pennsylvania counties where Harris is strong have the bulk of the votes that remain to be counted. I hereby predict that all of tonight's conspiracy theories will begin from the final 5% of the votes to be counted in Pennsylvania.

So far, the states with a marked increase in third-party votes compared to 2020 only have that increase because the Greens were only write-in candidates last time. Virginia's the biggest difference I've found, but so far I'm pretty disappointed that the total third-party numbers aren't noticeably going up.

Take New Jersey, for instance, which should have been safe enough that any Harris-skeptic would have felt free to vote for a leftist candidate. Last time, the Libertarians were in third place with 0.7%. Right now, the Greens are in third place with 0.7%.

Hearing all the white people around me at my job talk about "Illegals" really makes me think of this song.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5mjrT3N4hNo

I hate Florida and this country. The Mexican cook in my department literally told me he's afraid this racist rhetoric will result in people like him being attacked, despite the white people I've talked to tonight all claiming it's only about the "illegal" ones.

"So you still think you can control them Kamala."

I see either outcome as divine punishment for the US so I really don't care at the end of the day.
