Nice to have a friend when I'm unwell ❤️

Edit: she's worked her fluffy tummy magic and I'm feeling better :)

As soon as the shops open I'm going to go and buy me a big pack of tortellini, cook all four serves of that bad boy up, and eat it all

I think I’m angry right now.

Why do I always have to be the one to compromise on things when I’ve done everything correctly and on time.

Also fuck being connected to work even on a weekend.

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There’s a right to disconnect law now. You don’t have to acknowledge work related requests on days off. (Unless explicitly agreed in a contract I guess)

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago

Yeah. Just something that couldn’t wait because of the nature of it, didn’t want to be left stranded in a remote location without a lift back.

[–] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Don’t let it rob you of this gorgeous day. ✨

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I stayed inside today. I should have gone out and treated myself to some food.

Aiming to get the housework done today so I can relax for the next 2 days, and it’s a struggle getting motivated to start.

Have gone to pub for lunch with OH. That’ll help, won’t it?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago

It will keep your kitchen tidier. 👍

Never ended up taking that nap, just been idly existing all day.

Been playing Brotato as well, that's all I've done. Tomorrow I will catch up on the recording for the theory classes I missed when I was doing first aid.

I had a really nice chat with my classmates on Thursday and Friday, and one in particular we both just wandered around campus at lunch talking. Old me would have balked at being so social and open, but I'm so glad to be who I am now that I find great happiness in talking to others who I don't know well.

Edit: istg if that squeaking starts up again tonight I'm gonna throw everything off my balcony into the alley. I hate that I couldn't figure out what it was, and it stopped when the wind died down. Fucker.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Do you have those spinny vents on your roofs? They’re squeaky as

Edit: the interbutts informs me that they’re called turbine vents or Whirlybirds

Is Brotato any good?

It’s nice to sometimes reflect to see how we’ve changed and made a lot of progress.

It’s often a lifelong thing and sometimes you don’t figure it out for ages.

Squeaking? Maybe a rusty window or door hinge?

Decisions, decisions…

Run to the hills… or

Head to the ocean…

Hills be easier and my one of my favourite brunches be that way. Hills it is.

Currently looking for mango recipes that aren't jam.. was going to make chutney but have found myself mysteriously lacking in ingredients for it 😒Too lazy to go out and get stuff. Might just freeze it until I get some vinegar and spices tomorrow. Got my heart set on chutney to go with chicken curry.

Weeds :(

In the drive for a hands off summer we're now on the 16th consecutive weekly full green bin. Shit just isn't settling down.

I need two weekly green bins and a lot more mulch otherwise I'm just not able to keep on top of it.

Glorious day, crisper drawer stew with chicken wings in the slow cooker for tonight and tomorrow's lunch, glass of cold white whine in hand, laundry all done including household linens, nice music on the music machine. Nowt to do but eat, drink and be merry. Life is good.

I admit I am quite nervous about the US election.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 10 points 2 years ago

I'm also nervous about what comes after the election. It's pretty clear that Trump and his supporters won't accept losing and will do everything they can to overthrow the results, so whoever wins there will be trouble. And trouble in US flows over into trouble for the rest of the world.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 8 points 2 years ago

Good chance we might not find out the results till later in the week.

Unfortunately it’s an election that’s too close to call and I really don’t need to see him on tv every single day of the week.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

I’m trying to shut it out. There’s a lot of fear about him getting in and others saying he’s on the ropes, I don’t know.

I’m just trying to cope with each day at this point

Someone brought home cannoli !💃🪩🕺

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 2 years ago

24.7 degrees? What sort of stupid temperature is that for 4am? Someone clearly forgot to turn down the thermostat overnight.

It's stupidly windy and random things keep creaking and banging. Mr Woof was a bit alarmed by a plant pot that was walking itself down the street.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago

I swear to God I spoil Chook rotten. Many new toys

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago

stuff is happening 🙂

and yesterday I took Bill for a walk in the cat stroller. He meowed a bit, he will get used to it.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Migraine eased up. Feel like crap, but the headache is gone at least. Went for a walk and that oddly wiped me out.

Better than before at least :)

Shitty day yesterday. slow start but now I am here. Kitchen looks like a bomb hit it and bits dumped everywhere (geez I can wreck a joint when black dog gets me for a couple of days).

But sun is out and mood is up. Gonna wander to the local for coffee and toastie then back for a clean up.

I am working mon/Tues so this can be my long weekend treat.

I watched The World's End. Ummm surprisingly I liked it. I didn't understand it but I still liked it. It's the closest I'm gonna get to nerd. I'm still dazed and unpacking.

We went to the Kaiga Convention today. It's like a dedicated artists alley you get at other conventions. It was good if that's more your thing, and there's a similar market in December.

The weirdest thing is it was at the Crown Convention Centre, the only time I've been there is for a boring B2B conference. It was jarring setting the same room for corporate shit filled with anime artists

Finally got round to watching evangelion 3+1 last night. Terrible. But as far as all the batshit endings evangelion ever got it wasn’t the worst.

But still, about 20 minutes of Eva shit in the whole movie.

Wind woke me up, something on the clothes horse outside is squeaking. The cat has also been meowing incessantly.

Ugh no Sunday sleep-in for me, wtf.

Movie Review.

How is it it can take me many many watches to actually get all a plot?

Ben Hur. 1959. This movie is long and spectacular. You can see it's made with a lot of care to costuming and sets. Many of the scenes look familiar because they have been copied so much since but this movie did it first and best. The dialogue is also so good.

I would say this movie was made with love and respect for the subject

four hobbits. I think I will buy a book about this movie.

Honest Thief. Cute love/action/cop movie with Liam Neeson.

four hobbits because i have a soft spot for guys in love

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The Ben Hur chariot race sequence always gets me - the horses start off the race then get sweaty and magically unsweat themselves at intervals throughout the sequence. Then they get sweaty again, and then unsweaty. I did an analysis of it once based in what I knew then about horse physiology - and reckoned they filmed all the walk & trot sequences AFTER all the galloping bits going by the sun angles. Over at least a couple of days - as the charioteers swap around and drive different horses in different chariots for different bits of the race. Always cracks me up to watch it.
