They worked!
Mango?
looks delicious
Nice work. Yum!
Mangoo
MANGJOO!
looks great :)
Never ended up taking that nap, just been idly existing all day.
Been playing Brotato as well, that's all I've done. Tomorrow I will catch up on the recording for the theory classes I missed when I was doing first aid.
I had a really nice chat with my classmates on Thursday and Friday, and one in particular we both just wandered around campus at lunch talking. Old me would have balked at being so social and open, but I'm so glad to be who I am now that I find great happiness in talking to others who I don't know well.
Edit: istg if that squeaking starts up again tonight I'm gonna throw everything off my balcony into the alley. I hate that I couldn't figure out what it was, and it stopped when the wind died down. Fucker.
Do you have those spinny vents on your roofs? Theyāre squeaky as
Edit: the interbutts informs me that theyāre called turbine vents or Whirlybirds
I don't think so but maybe it is that! It was dark, and I was angry so I couldnt tell where it was coming from lol
Is Brotato any good?
Itās nice to sometimes reflect to see how weāve changed and made a lot of progress.
Itās often a lifelong thing and sometimes you donāt figure it out for ages.
Squeaking? Maybe a rusty window or door hinge?
Yeah I'm really really enjoying Brotato. I get it with the Google play pass. It's really fun, flash-like Rogue like. Guns and items and synergy and a bullet hell that's doable.
No rusty windows or doors that would do that, apartments and sliding doors, and sliding safety windows (only slide open approx 10cm). It's something on my balcony or a neighbours. But it hasn't done it all day, so maybe I'm just going crazy
Yay Spud!
No to the squeaking!
Nice to have a friend when I'm unwell ā¤ļø
Edit: she's worked her fluffy tummy magic and I'm feeling better :)
Gibson would G L A R E sourly at the sickness and it would retreat!
In the very least she would meow aggressively at it, like when she wants treats lol
Honestly kitty looks a bit ripped I'd give her all the treats if I were you.
I watched The World's End. Ummm surprisingly I liked it. I didn't understand it but I still liked it. It's the closest I'm gonna get to nerd. I'm still dazed and unpacking.
The one with Simon Pegg?
Yeah
Kitchen, clothes, lounge done, bins done. And I did a lecture for a course I'm doing. And spag Bol just started. Need to do another pass over the floors but I am WFH tomorrow so might call it a day.
I admit I am quite nervous about the US election.
I'm also nervous about what comes after the election. It's pretty clear that Trump and his supporters won't accept losing and will do everything they can to overthrow the results, so whoever wins there will be trouble. And trouble in US flows over into trouble for the rest of the world.
Good chance we might not find out the results till later in the week.
Unfortunately itās an election thatās too close to call and I really donāt need to see him on tv every single day of the week.
Me too, for the same reasons Raven said. They call everything that's against them rigged or fake, and it makes them basically write their own narrative no matter how crazy and screw everyone who disagrees š¤¦š¼āāļø
Iām trying to shut it out. Thereās a lot of fear about him getting in and others saying heās on the ropes, I donāt know.
Iām just trying to cope with each day at this point
Glorious day, crisper drawer stew with chicken wings in the slow cooker for tonight and tomorrow's lunch, glass of cold white whine in hand, laundry all done including household linens, nice music on the music machine. Nowt to do but eat, drink and be merry. Life is good.
Caught up with a friend from work today.
Two hours after hearing her talk about herself and her life: "I wanna hear about you now."
Do you though?!
It was a nice afternoon in the sun. Some people were playing soccer in the park and set up their cones around where we were sitting. We had to move because we were in the middle of their "pitch".
Don't wait to be asked.
Come prepared in your mind , have anecdotes you want to share and stories to bring your friend up to date with what is going on in your life rehearsed in your mind and ready.
Someone brought home cannoli !ššŖ©šŗ
Aiming to get the housework done today so I can relax for the next 2 days, and itās a struggle getting motivated to start.
Have gone to pub for lunch with OH. Thatāll help, wonāt it?
It will keep your kitchen tidier. š
I think Iām angry right now.
Why do I always have to be the one to compromise on things when Iāve done everything correctly and on time.
Also fuck being connected to work even on a weekend.
Thereās a right to disconnect law now. You donāt have to acknowledge work related requests on days off. (Unless explicitly agreed in a contract I guess)
Yeah. Just something that couldnāt wait because of the nature of it, didnāt want to be left stranded in a remote location without a lift back.
Movie Review.
How is it it can take me many many watches to actually get all a plot?
Ben Hur. 1959. This movie is long and spectacular. You can see it's made with a lot of care to costuming and sets. Many of the scenes look familiar because they have been copied so much since but this movie did it first and best. The dialogue is also so good.
I would say this movie was made with love and respect for the subject
four hobbits. I think I will buy a book about this movie.
Honest Thief. Cute love/action/cop movie with Liam Neeson.
four hobbits because i have a soft spot for guys in love
The Ben Hur chariot race sequence always gets me - the horses start off the race then get sweaty and magically unsweat themselves at intervals throughout the sequence. Then they get sweaty again, and then unsweaty. I did an analysis of it once based in what I knew then about horse physiology - and reckoned they filmed all the walk & trot sequences AFTER all the galloping bits going by the sun angles. Over at least a couple of days - as the charioteers swap around and drive different horses in different chariots for different bits of the race. Always cracks me up to watch it.
they are such beautiful well trained horses and a joy to watch
"Due to the extremely hot weather in Rome, the horses were allowed to run around the track eight times per day. Cannuttās careful method was aimed at teaching horses how to run as a unit and tolerate eventual crashes between them, without causing any damage. And while some of the actors or extras suffered minor injuries while filming, it is worth noting that no horse was damaged in the shooting of the impressive scene that even today, over 60 years later, still gives viewers goosebumps.
The shooting of the chariot race scene took five weeks. In order to follow the horses closely, cameras were placed on top of Italian cars.
The splendid horses seen in the movie were mostly Andalusian and Lipizzans, and were brought from Yugoslavia and Sicilia. The whole film featured around 2,500 horses, and all of them had carers, trainers, veterinarians, and stable boys, among other requirements. The four beautiful white horses ā the Andalusians ā that were given to Ben Hur by Ilderim, were named after stars in Arabic ā Aldebaran, Altair, Rigel and Antares, all foals of the lovely mare Mira. Even Ben Hur was impressed by the charm of these horses."

I've visited two ancient hippodromes, in Istanbul and Rome, they aren't that much bigger than a footy field
Currently looking for mango recipes that aren't jam.. was going to make chutney but have found myself mysteriously lacking in ingredients for it šToo lazy to go out and get stuff. Might just freeze it until I get some vinegar and spices tomorrow. Got my heart set on chutney to go with chicken curry.
Weeds :(
In the drive for a hands off summer we're now on the 16th consecutive weekly full green bin. Shit just isn't settling down.
I need two weekly green bins and a lot more mulch otherwise I'm just not able to keep on top of it.
Migraine eased up. Feel like crap, but the headache is gone at least. Went for a walk and that oddly wiped me out.
Better than before at least :)
We went to the Kaiga Convention today. It's like a dedicated artists alley you get at other conventions. It was good if that's more your thing, and there's a similar market in December.
The weirdest thing is it was at the Crown Convention Centre, the only time I've been there is for a boring B2B conference. It was jarring setting the same room for corporate shit filled with anime artists
