I mean anything is possible. It wouldn’t be the first time media inspired technology.
It is technology that almost no one is asking for and few are using. Especially if they had an idea of how much this mostly useless tech was adding to the cost of modern vehicles.

Some farmers revolted a few years ago when tractor manufacturers did more or less the same thing.
It will take several years for enough to hit the used parts market that the price drops. Ford will then change the design for... progress.
No one makes an OEM taillight without the bed weight tech??? Wow.
Just poor design.
