Who is Chidi? Why are there multiple Christopher Columbus memes today, is it a holiday for him or something?

[-] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Watch The Good Place, it's on Netflix.

[-] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I don't have Netflix but thanks! Chidi is a character from that, I guess? :)

Yes, a professor in moral philosophy and a Good Place resident

Highly recommend to watch (widely available through the green streaming service, if you know what I mean)

Technically.

It shouldn't be though.

Spoiler below: (I cannot get spoiler text to work for me for the life of me)

I mean as true as that is, saying he’s in the bad place doesn’t really matter much considering everyone goes to the bad place in the show

Whoa spoilers!

If Janet didn't specifically mention the rape, genocide, and slavery to mention specifically the rape, genocide, and slavery that'd be a solid point.

[-] Zorque@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

The lead singer of Spinal Tap would totally go to the Good Place, though.

Can confirm, I have spent a lot of time in Columbus Ohio.

I missed the word “in” when I first read it and was wondering is the city was much worse than it’s reputation in ways I wasn’t aware of.

ol ted seems a bit taken aback, or hes wanting to take her a-back to his place

Is that woke "humour" I hear about?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Facts about one of the worst people in history, along with the jokey implication that he's in hell, are so woke, aren't they?

Clearly the non-woke thing would be to celebrate the guy who was so atrocious to the natives that even the Spanish royals were outraged and had him brought back to Spain in chains.

But hey, he "discovered America," am I right? Ignoring the millions of people who already lived there at the time, along with the Vikings who got there 500 years before he did.
