Had a crack at some slow cooked beef stroganoff again last night and I think I've finally perfected it! ~150 for 1.5-2 hours seems to be the sweet spot for the aldi gravy beef in the oven.

Neighbours' dog jumped the fence again wanted pats, he is a good boi so he always gets them. Then he starts eating charcoal from the fire patch (basically a patch where I set garden things on fire). Dogs shouldn't eat charcoal. So there I am chasing a dog asking it to drop.. He was so possessive I gave up. God speed Winston never change.

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

Winstons stealing charcoal?

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

Winston isn't the brightest. Heart of gold though.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

Maybe Winston has been into the liquor cabinet. Tryna sober up before the parents get home. Not so stupid now hey?

I finished the Gibson Alien 3 screenplay and it's very good. It adds to the Alien universe, makes them scarier, and is it's own thing from the other two movies.

If we fit this version we would have had a very solid trilogy on our hands at a minimum

Thanks for reminding me. I don't know if your kind of thing, but there's a short story from the monster perspective from the movie"The Thing"

Amazing story.

[-] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

That sounds familiar. I'll look it up.

There's also the book Grendel about the monster from Beowulf from the monster's perspective. It's really good and works as a stand alone piece

I'm currently down a rabbit hole of lofi and "focus" music youtube channels. My brain is so busy lately I am needing something to play in my earphones while I work but something that won't distract me. Anyone got any channels they like?

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

the Lofi Girl stuff is pretty great. SBS Chill aint bad either.

I don't have YouTube recommendations, but artists/albums, yes!
God is an Astronaut - Somnia
Helios - any of the albums!
Karate Boogaloo - Hold Your Horses

Before I subject my credit card to the likes of Temuโ€ฆ might anyone be looking to rehome a hideous Halloween jumper?

[-] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Hullo. Time for toast

Oh hey Baku - this is completely random and I know you already have a job. But seeing as you already do cameras and are working on home security, perhaps a future career option to consider might be as a locksmith?

The tafe campus is on the opposite side of the city to you and there are financial reasons tradie apprentices drop outโ€ฆ so maybe not.

But if thatโ€™s of any interest there may be financial support during an apprenticeship and you eventually get a decent salary.

Is it weird for a cat to make these random little stomach gurgle noises?

Everything else is normal, and I've booked her for the vet tomorrow. When I googled it, the sites I saw said it was normal for a cat to make random sounds sometimes.

TV review.

This is a broader review of a genre.

TV and movies have been setting up the premise of a cast being amateur detectives since forever. This is so they can meet all different kinds of people and get up to all kinds of hijinks, the whodunnit is secondary . Usually the first series or movie seems to have more of the detective work , after that the characters are established and they just do the hijinks. Some examples are The Three Stooges, The Thin Man series of movies, The Monkees, Scooby Doo, ATHF, and most recently Only Murders in the Building.

They are all good fun shows. :)

[-] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Only Murders in the Building.

Absolutely adore this show. The cast, the writing, the twists, the cliffhangers. It's done so well. The comedic timing of f-bombs is really well done too.

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

loved season 1, enjoyed season 2, season 3 was a struggle!

[-] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

3 eps into S4 and I'm hooked. They seem to have gotten back into form.

S3 was weird, cause the cast was soooooo good, and it was a bit all over the place.

Agree, I love these type of shows. A similar excellent one is White Lotus. Itโ€™s a whodunit without the amateur detectives, shows a body in the first episode and then the rest is revealing all the hijinks that led to it.

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

I dont really get the purpose of it (beyond I think "look at how much money we have!") but you've gotta admit, Polaris Dawn is such a COOL space mission name!

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Stay warm everyone. ๐Ÿ˜˜
