I read this and this alone must be an enough reason to avoid Google play
I felt like a right noobie when one of my colleagues said he'd got a Pixel tablet via the Play Store and asked him how he'd won it.
Apparently I don't install and play shittons of games like them.
£500 was tempting to look into it further but as you say, that news pissed me off because I now know my mum is gonna install some bullshit that one of those guys might have picked up on.
Reading this made me think about the amount of trackers your friend had in his phone during this process...
Yep yep I bought a family member a couple of those fancy GLi routers that come with AdGuard built in.
It's scary what a household's tracked without it would look like, and they are none the wiser to the shit getting sinkholed to this day thankfully.
I'm down to 10% bollocks via NextDNS
and aim to bring it down further by dumping any apps/services that want to bum fugg me.
When I used to use Firefox forks on my mobile, ublock once blocked nearly 10k thing in a month or less ... this was such a surprise to me ...
That hardware giveaway thing is only available in couple of countries right now, US being one. Otherwise, one can be a Platinum member in other parts of the world and they would get nothing.
Posting this from my alt as the previous didn't appeared pinned on other instances, let's see if this one works better
I'm starting to really dislike android. A lot. Material you isn't picked up by anyone but Google and a few apps here and there.
Stock android is a joke, it barely works.
Pixel flavor android has been the same for three years only adding ai nonsense to the latest releases.
My pixel 8 has awful battery life and gets super hot on light use like, listening to music over Bluetooth.
How the fuck did we end up here. I want a redesign. I want a consistent redesign that doesn't age as badly and quickly as any android design has. Everyone in the design community keeps glorifying material design over iOS but honestly iOS has aged way better than even the newest design of material you...
But don't phones become hot on summers ? I thought that's netural
Pixel is notorious for becoming hotter than normal. That's why Google added a vapor chamber to it's Pro series of phones this time. Heck, despite their slow charging speeds(27W, I think), they throttle even below that during warm days.
My pixel 8 throttles as soon as I'm not using WiFi if it's warmer than 21°C outside... It hasn't shown me any warning but it has randomly shut down before.
I'm surprised that Android 15 will support split screen feature ... I've already got it in Android 10 on the stock ROM
Seriously if AI became a thing on every phone I might stick with an old phone or immediately switch to a custom ROM even if it means no more warranty
