And Lemmy is completely ignored/forgotten. Pretty accurate.

TBF, with the exception of 4chan, these are all microblgging platforms occupying the same problem space. Lemmy is more like Reddit (unmentioned), which is not only more long-form, but has a different mechanism of organization: people self-organize by topic, not by following personalities. Lemmy & Reddit replaced Usenet. Twitter et al were a new, different paradigm.

4chan is in there to be funny, but shares more with Lemmy and Reddit than micro-blogging sites.

This meme is a discussion of Twitter clones. Lemmy is a Reddit clone, and Reddit isn't up there either.

Considering Mastodon is up there, I'll be generous and say that refers to the Fediverse as a whole.

*4 Chan want big tits and bigger dick

Some angry Linux fans and a couple shit posters.

[–] jagermo@feddit.org 44 points 2 years ago (2 children)
[–] 5ibelius9insterberg@feddit.org 15 points 2 years ago

The number of shitposters that aren't linux fans is even smaller.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Surely that goes without saying...

And tankies. So so many tankies

"Yes, Donald Trump is an existential threat to a large number of groups of vulnerable Americans. But have you considered Kamala Harris also bad? If you vote for either one this November you hate Gazans"

Communists and linux users

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do those have to be mutually exclusive?

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

Definitely not

Not a microblogging software. But i would maybe call it mastodons much more useful little sibling.

They mention that, and ignore Lemmy and Reddit. Brilliant.

So basically Twitter on a Blockchain with literally zero moderation

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Pretty much.

I created an account (or rather an identity) on there a while back because I was intrigued by the hyper-decentralized aspect. It attracts the exact sort of people you would expect a blockchain-based zero-moderation platform to attract.

This is a very good paraphrase from an excellent series, Yes Prime Minister (formerly Yes Minister). In the scene, the Prime Minister (dude in the middle) is explaining to the Permanent Secretary (dude on the left) the difference between the various English newspapers. The Permanent Secretary is famous for giving lengthy and exceptionally convoluted monologues in which he says nearly nothing

I had no idea that bluesky was actually good.

[–] bruhbeans@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 years ago

It's not, don't worry

[–] Living_Dead@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Its been getting better and slowly adding more features to make it more like Twitter. If you want a twitter like platform its worth a look.
