Has anyone else been experiencing performance problems for the last few weeks? About half my requests time out when using Jerboa. The site on desktop is a little better but Lemmy still performs pretty poorly compared to how it has in the past.

Is this an instance issue or an issue with Lemmy itself?

Hello, yeah, I've noticed some performance issues. I've also noticed that performance has decreased with increased CPU usage. I'm not entirely sure what the deal is. It seems that every hour on the hour the CPU spikes.

Edit: One thing I'm probably going to do eventually is move the postgres DB to a separate server so that more resources are freed up.

I've noticed this, though I use Boost. I thought it was just my instance since I would consistently get 502 errors, but things have been loading very slowly on other instances too.

The instances are not guaranteed to run on good hardware and the nature of defederation means you are at the mercy of the weakest link in many scenarios. It is the nature of the beast.

I've noticed it as well. I think when we were on 19.3, it was running pretty well, but after upgrading to 19.4 and 19.5 it's been fairly slow, and has gone out for a few minutes at a time (I'm on Voyager, for reference).

I haven't been on other instances enough to say if its a widespread thing, though.
