Omitting, of course, how they came in here with the attitude of 'this mentally unwell individual deserved to be shot to death', wholly ignoring that in a country where medical care is privatized and hideously expensive, people aren't going to be able to afford treatment for it and we have situations like this occur.

I'm not even sure mental illness had anything to do with it.
If any typical American had just gotten away from an active shooter situation, and someone on a bus pulled a gun on them, it's not unlikely that they'd try to wrest the gun away and shoot the gunman. And having just shot someone on a bus, wanting to steer the bus to somewhere preferred is not an insane response.
Libs are so stupid. Absolutely mainlining their own talking points. I often think damn we're pretty harsh on libs, then I peek into lib spaces and its even worse than the caricature than we paint them as.
It gives me great relief that we are far better at "knowing your enemy" than libs or chuds. Only non-commies who understand us at all are either feds and a very small subset of fascists.
