UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
Why do you need Sky TV? Freeview ought to be enough for everyone.
Hell, I'm not didn't in the UK and I enjoyed CBBC. I can't remember how I got access to it (because geoblocking, which is bullshit), but I liked it. I can't say the same about news programming because fuck that amirite?
He's older than Freeview. He'd only have had four channels, the poor soul.
They still had some cool stuff I'm sure.
Also, wasn't CBBC a programming block during this time as well?
Now, you mention it, I do remember that. They used to do Marvel Hour on Saturday, with the X Men show. It was the tits.
I wasn't around for that stuff and I kinda wish I was.
But even then, I wasn't in the UK anyway.
during my childhood, you needed sky to watch stuff like nickelodeon and CN. shit was mad expensive, basicallv useless in the rain and had ads. It was awful
That's why you made friends with someone who had it. Then you went around their house and ate wagon wheels and watched Totally Spies, and felt things.
Sad. We had free to air versions of those on satellite (although Nick closed in 2011 for... honestly I have no idea why they closed it down)
