Oh cool libs have started doing the "Don't hate me just because of a difference of opinion" shit that right wingers have done forever.
What's the different opinion, you sick nazi fucks?
Scratch a lib, a fascist bleeds.
There was a point in time where I thought that was a hyperbolic statement and was a meme. Same with "social democracy is the moderate wing of fascism". Not anymore. Every day it just proves more and more true
Don't forget the "objectively" in there. Its the best part
Nah, it's just the result of not having a true liberal/progressive party. As it stands, the current democratic party is more comparable to 'normal' conservative parties in progressive countries than anything resembling a sane liberal party.
You might have been right, if the "moderate wing of fascism" quote wasn't originally said by a Georgian (the other kind of Georgian) man in 1924.
I'm familiar with the quote, that's why I didn't think it was applicable to the entire democratic party. You could definitely argue the point when it comes to the factions within the party that carry the fascists water for them under the guise of bipartisanship, but that's also why I used quotes around normal conservative. Since I would say we are 10 years( probably much less) from that 'moderate wing of fascism' being a wholly accurate description of the party.
I hear what you're saying, but I don't know how important this hair is to split if there's only like 7 people that aren't carrying water for fascists (might even be generous there) they are hardly a robust opposition to any actual authority wielded by the state.
Also if you estimate we are 2 election cycles or less away from fascism I'd say it's already here at our house and we're just waiting for him to take the coat off and sit downat the table.
I wouldn't go that far to say it's just 7 congress members. I primarily believe we're that close due to the structure of our government. It favors the will of the minority(population wise) party(currently 1 step away from pure naked fascism) and all that's needed is a small amount of 'bipartisan-ism" to achieve their goals while preventing the majority(population wise) party from implementing any of their agenda.
I'm sure you're already aware, but for anyone that isn't, this is a(poorly explained) example of the ratchet effect
No. I don't think that's exactly accurate. There is no comparing American parties with political parties from other countries. America is relatively unique in that it is an empire. Its political parties don't really fit on the same standard as others around the world.
If you look at Latin America, Africa, Asia, the normal Conservative parties there have no interest in going to war every other week.
Don't threaten me with a good time
