I love how bunch of fucking white kids from anglosphere (as there are zero Mandarin from all the posts on that subreddit for one) or "expats" are parroting western media words and think they're experts in anything related to China and Chinese people.
The fact that the admins allow that sub to operate the way it does tells you everything you need to know about reddit as a company
Almost all westerners in nonwestern countries have as much insight into the local populace, society and culture as nato officials did about russia when they proudly proclaimed the whole country would collapse after the "mother of all santions"
