Society would be so much better off if humans had evolved this.

You mean the ability to understand and respect the word "No"?

[–] Danterious@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That and being direct with someone when asking to be in a relationship.

The bird in the comic literally has to go through a complicated display, song and dance to state their intentions.

Hardly direct.

Have you seen human rating rituals?

[–] illi@lemm.ee 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Here I'm, rating stuff without any rituals... I probably look like dumbass.

I meant to say dating rituals but I find the original comment funny so I'm leaving it up.

I figured, I was just joking around ;)

Wait, that's what it means?! You think I can still call her back?

"I am up Ophelia. In particular, part of me is as 'up' as the sturdy oak tree in front of the plantation that bears your family's name"

[–] Danterious@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 years ago

I mean we still can. It is just a cultural thing.

[–] BirdEnjoyer@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago

I mean, would it, though? having so much of the body involved in this way? Do you understand that, for birds, basically anything under the head can be misconstrued as intimate contact?
(This is the most awkward part of bird husbandry 101, especially when trying to teach children on how to properly handle them)

It'd be the bird equivalent of the Omegaverse!

Which sounds to me, a nonsexual asexual, like a nightmare. But is probably actually a viable xenofiction romance subgenre for someone willing to get a little weird. Well, from what I understand, most romance novels are a little weird?

Life would be so much simpler.
