If you want to wield a a massive amount of global political and military power, it's pretty important.

Externally it is a powerful position, but can the president do much inside the US itself?

Pardoning and appointments seem to be the limits.

So, what other powers does a president have? Us Obama as an example if Trump is distasteful.

OK. Emergency powers are pretty strong but the rest are largely external to the US.
