Looked up more on the “Democratic Republic” moniker and found this gem on Wikipedia:

States which (as of 2022) use the term "Democratic Republic" in their official names also include many that do not hold free elections and have been rated as "undemocratic" or "unfree" by organizations that gave such ratings. Algeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, North Korea, Laos, Nepal, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic do not hold free elections and are rated as undemocratic "hybrid regimes" or "authoritarian regimes" by the Democracy Index (The Economist).

“Henhouses were rated to be undemocratic bastions of terrorism, according to Fox & Weasel Monthly.”

with no interrogation of why those organizations exist or who funds them. [sarcastic golf clap]

I think in a lot of the listed cases their status as undemocratic isn't really under question, even when the source is biased

Sure. But the same Index listed Israel as a “flawed democracy” so getting a few right doesn’t save it.

Flawed democracy sounds about right for them imo. Do you mean it should be in the same undemocratic group? I *don't* think it's quite on par with the likes or North Korea.

Not allowing something like 20% of your population to vote isn't very democratic. Your DPRK takes also sound very LIB

I'd imagine that's part of why it's a flawed democracy

Your DPRK takes also sound very

What do you mean?

E: Noticed I said it's on par with NK when I meant the opposite, whoops
