Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Anti-science, inactivism, and unsupported conspiracy theories are not ok here.

I'm sorry, I forgot we're on the internet and Poe's Law applies. Next time I'll add a "THIS IS SARCASM :D" disclaimer to the end of my posts when relevant.

THIS IS SARCASM :D

I don't know how you read a post going through all the structural problems with elections which culminates in a point about people not dealing with non-voting in an effective way and not get the point. Other people did.

THIS IS NOT SARCASM :(

Oh, I picked up the sarcasm at the very end... It's just not well applied.

Sarcasm doesn't work well as a tool to advocate... It's great for advocating against though...

You seem to love sending absolute walls of text

That’s fair. Sarcasm can be misunderstood and places the work of interpretation on the reader.

I’m not really the most concise writer but complex issues can’t be easily discussed in the length of a tweet.

THIS IS NOT SARCASM :(

Tell you what, let’s meet in the middle. I’ll work on my writing skills and you work on your reading comprehension and attention span.

THIS IS SARCASM :D

I’m sorry if this got a little mean/heated. I just get really mad about certain issues. We’re on the same team and that’s what matters.

Man I get heated too, I'll happily meet you in the middle.

Someone pointed out to me that I was too quick to make angry comments so I've been working on sending neutral or positive ones instead....

Still working on it.
