From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

That’s a straw man argument at best. You act as if I can control where I live (though I’ve work for multiple reperation charities to help with this exact issue because I know I live on stolen land and I want to give it back).

Knowingly using stolen property to “create” something is not the same as living on stolen land that was stolen two plus centuries ago.

And honestly I find it a little pathetic that that’s the comparison you tried to go for.

AS I said to the other dude, I'm not going to keep coming up with examples because you'll just keep moving the goal posts. There are tons of examples of something of value, natural or man made, being stolen and later treated as a common good.

Just do some research.

Just Do SoMe ReSeArCh…. Buddy you missed the whole ass point of my conversation.

How about you research “straw man argument” first before you continue to comment.

I’m not arguing on your point, I’m saying your point is utterly irrelevant and useless to this conversation.

Nobody moved the goal posts, you simply picked a terrible example but you're too arrogant to admit it.

Someone doesn't choose where they're born, even if that land was stolen. It's simply not their fault. But they do choose whether to create or use an LLM based on theft. So it's not remotely the same.

We also didn't choose whether our ancestors were slave owners, whether they committed various atrocities, etc. Same with other things our country did in the past. We're not responsible for any of that. But we can hold some measure of responsibility for things that happened once we were alive if it's based on how we voted.

We also don't choose anything about our body at birth, attractions, genetics, etc. Yet people judge and condemn people for those as well. People who do judge others for those things are garbage, IMO. Yet that's the kind of gross argument you're basically making here.

Judge what someone chooses, for their actions, not for what they didn't have any say in. And, again, people choose whether or not to use an LLM.

You're right. Nothing has been stolen and then treated as public property in our society. I am fool, and you are a god.
