Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1918 readers
218 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

This will come as no surprise to any one given they are a .ml account, but now that they are attempting to discourage people from voting, they revealed their true face.

Edit: only now seeing they also post links to x.com still. I liked their content because I am anti genocide too, but it’s clear there’s a big the_donald vibe there.

OPs complete lack of self-awareness is amazing, right? I count this as the third attack against a leftist comm on LW in eight days. I guess the MOG right-wingers are getting agitated, lol. How about the DNC stops standing up pro-genocide candidates, then we might be able to get along.

How is encouraging people to vote the same as manufacturing consent?

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Encouraging people to vote for people who support genocide is manufacturing consent for genocide

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world -3 points 6 days ago (3 children)

I’m encouraging people to vote. That’s it. Nothing to do with genocide.

And to avoid this from going too long, I’ve had a bit of a side discussion with geneva after this, and after asking multiple times, it’s pretty obvious they are a closet trump supporter, which is incredibly insincere, considering they are using the Palestinian genocide to do it.

[–] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

No, it's not obvious, at all. It's just a wild, unsupported, bad faith accusation. None of the examples you provided do anything but make you look clueless about the whole topic. Minimizing the genocide in the way you are doing as though it's just a niche side issue after you deal with Trump, is exactly the sort of thing that gets principled people offside.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world -4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It’s just a matter of perspective my friend. I am talking about getting people to vote to get trump out, and this particular vocal minority, fully armed with typical pro-trump supporting talking points comes in with what is essentially, ‘but what about the genocide’ whataboutism.

“How dare you say a genocide is whataboutism” Yes, exactly, that’s how whataboutism works. You derail, because you don’t like the original objective of getting people to vote, because your work for or are ideologically aligned with trump.

So, I’ll put you through the same test: are you a trump supporter?

That question was asked 3 times to geneva, and then they blocked me. If you, after all that happened, can’t say for sure your are not in favour to have the most corrupt creepy guy leading the most overdeveloped military in the world, you have in fact shown your true colours.

So you sweeping in here to defend that type of behaviour doesn’t look all that promising, but I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Nazi and Zionist curious account who has no problem hand waving a genocide away as long as it's his team doing it. Surprise surprise.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world -5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yes, you uncovered me. You know why you think there’s something to uncover about people who say and act exactly like a anti Zionists? Because you are a trump supporter and you struggle to say it out loud.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 days ago

No, the politicians I support in America are being deported, lol.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think trump is a disgusting piece of human filth. I also think America is the biggest threat to humanity in general. Trump is rapidly sinking American soft and hard power, and showing the world americas true colors.

He's accidentally a great man of history, lol.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Idr why, but I also came to a similar conclusion about that user (like over a year ago I think). Though they might just be an accelerationist.

You did specifically say "vote against Ken Paxton," and the only options for that are a rightwing libertarian, and someone whose official policy position is "Israel has the right to defend its people," which is a straight up dogwhistle at this point

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

You're using the word accelerationism wrong.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It means something different than what you think it does?

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Oh shit I just looked it up; yeah I've been using that wildly wrong lmao. *

Well what do we call la politique du pire in English?

Or does that not describe Geneva_convenience either and I just didn't understand revolutionary maximalism back then and came to a false conclusion?

Edit: * Although it does appear that the way I've been using it matches the colloquial usage of it, no?

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I suppose, depending on the social circles you run with. Most of the people I talk with would know the right usage of accelerationism but we're probably not the norm, lol.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Ye, by colloquial I meant people who don't read theory lol. I've mostly only read anarchist theory, and I tend to stay out of electoral politics

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago

Normies ruin everything, lol
