Well, in the Sillmarillion, Lluvatar tells Melkor "Nice try fucking up my song, but I thought of that, watch:" and then middle earth was made.
It's my theory that hobbits were Lluvatar's answer to Melkors machinations.
Im imagining melkor hitting the ol "Oh, Eru!" (Badum ba, dum) sitcom special

Yep. The song is basically the "script" all of reality follows, and only Lluvatar knows the whole story.
Melkor was such a dick.
Parts of the story don't make sense though. They didn't have the sun for a long time. Melkor built them like a palace out of ice that later melted, shit like that.
