Today October 13th the Ontario Premier (Doug Ford) will beging the removal of protected cycling lanes in the city of Toronto.
(lemmy.world)
Today Doug Ford will attack Toronto's autonomy, and choice for safe streets. As well as our right to choose how we get around our city, and to do so without getting hurt or risking our own safety.
Get ready Ford. There are FAR more cyclists now compared to 2012.
Oct 13. Tom Riley Park Parking Lot. 5pm-late. Bring food, water and layers.
Be prepared to arrive earlier in case crews try to do a sneak attack removing protect lanes and infrastructure.
This fight is more than just about bike lanes.
It's about demanding municipal governments be respected, and fighting an authoritarian who believes he can do anything against a city's own wishes.
This is your Dutch moment Toronto!
Show up to show your support!
We gotta vote ol' corrupt Douggie out. I can't make it to TO today but I'm with you guys in spirit. Anyone got links to groups and resources for activist activities and/or protests?
Don't forget to text Dougy and tell him what you think!
Better yet text, and also email, just make sure to cc the city mayor and ward representatives to hold him accountable.
