Sorry, can someone explain? Looks interesting but I'm not getting it.

Both queries look like they were accidentally submitted before the user was done typing. Since the one on the left begins with the grammatically incorrect "Is we getting," Google's AI response seems to assume the person is asking about one of Donald Trump's claims that he will be sending checks to US citizens for various reasons.

The one on the right is grammatically correct and the AI makes no assumptions and simply points out that the query is incomplete.

If this is real, it reinforces the stereotype that Trump supporters (or other individuals likely to believe his claims) are poorly educated.

If this is real

I’m guessing the “AI” results are just smart enough to contextualise “is we getting” with the meme without understanding the joke.

That's because LLMs are just fancy autocomplete based on pattern matching so memes have a disproportionate impact on results because of repetition.

That's really not much different from many humans.

Google currently informs of the trend of is we getting being searched and points to a TikTok trend.

I can imagine it's not the actual organisation dealing with it, but my guess was that the search engine assumed a mistyped 'IRS we getting' search term.

I don't think you need to call it a stereotype anymore, he straight up called them all stupid and they clapped for him.

"Is we getting" implies lower quality education, it looks like, and the screenshot shows Google Ai result assuming the one searching is so and is asking about getting stimulus checks even without actual context

"Are we getting" - Google Ai result shows an expected answer (that the statement is simply incomplete)

My guess is it's playing off the stereotype of certain groups ways of speaking. "is we" vs "are we"" and tying it to asking for government payments.

Aave is hardly a stereotype, its a dialect of English
