They should've been in german prisons. Canada is not fascist Argentina.

Germany had plenty to fill their prisons with, which they didn't do:

"But while in West Germany and united Germany between 1946 and 2005, cases were brought against 140,000 individuals, only 6,656 were convicted of Nazi crimes. And 'the vast majority of sentences, just under five thousand (4,993), were relatively lenient, with terms of imprisonment of up to two years,' Fulbrook writes."

When did Germany get rid of the death penalty?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I was referring to the Nuremberg trials

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Yes but when did Germany abolish the practice and are you’re American by chance?

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

1949 in West Germany, 1981 in East Germany.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Of course East Germany was last, the tankies love violence.

Violence against nazis is good actually.

No, not American, and not sure when. I just hate nazis. To add i am in almost every case imaginable against capital punishment. There are very very small exceptions in my books.

Nazis should always have the books thrown at them.

What do you do with teenage soldiers as young as 15? Not a hypothetical: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12th_SS_Panzer_Division_Hitlerjugend

Bearing in mind they grew up knowing no political climate other than Nazi Germany. They would have been 3 when Hitler took power.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

Prison them for 10 years if their records are bad but it depends on the cases.

The division committed several war crimes while en route to and during the early battles of the Allied Normandy landings, including the Ascq and Normandy massacres, and several massacres, arsons and rapes in the cities of Plomion, Tavaux, Bouillon, Godinne, Hun, Rivere, Warnant and Namur.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, and they’re also child soldiers. What do you do with child war criminals?
