A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Coffee machines have had programmable auto-start at X time for decades at this point, no app or internet required, just a digital clock and simple, dumb electronics.

We're still talking about marginal, unnecessary things, but with a "smart" coffee pot, you could in theory start the pot when you're a few minutes away from home, if you like some after work. A pot connected to something like home assistant (which I have no idea if it exists) can brew the pot only on your workdays, or you can start it after you leave the bedroom, regardless of time. You could probably do quite a few "neat" things.
