Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

6. Defend your opinion

This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

I don't care what y'all think. Nothing about my food being hot or even warm makes it any better for me. I always burn tongue and even if I don't, I really don't enjoy rushing to swallow because my mouth is at risk of inflicting pain. Even when it's slightly warm, I don't like it. I want my food stone cold, no matter what the food is.

I always let my food cool down, not even to room temperature, I let it cool even longer and I eat everything stone cold. It lets me properly savor the flavor, without worrying about too much heat. Eating cold food for me is a relaxing experience, eating hot food is a panic-inducing one, and eating slightly warm food is boring, not any better than stone cold food. I'll even gladly eat food straight out of the fridge and enjoy it! I've been called "crazy" and "perverse" for this many, many times.

I like my food stone cold and refuse to eat it even mildly warm, always letting it cool down way below room temperature. Screw what anyone thinks πŸ˜†

Actually, yeah, I do that a lot. My bf yells at me for putting hot lasagna in the fridge for hours at a time...

[–] Fluke@feddit.uk 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As he should. You're heating everything else in the fridge, making the fridge work far harder than usual and thus vastly accelerating both the fridge and it's contents' demise.

[–] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 2 days ago

Yup. True.
...I still do it tho πŸ˜†

putting hot lasagna in the fridge for hours at a time...

Deranged. You could literally cause food to spoil early doing this.

[–] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yep. I am indeed deranged. You think I don't know that?

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Apparently because every information source available will tell you to never do that and you seem proud of doing it?

[–] Miisha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Do I seem proud of doing it? Cause I'm not, that's for sure. I'm just dumb

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My brother in Christ this is a place for unpopular opinions don't be upset to see people post their unpopular opinions and also stand by their opinions it's literally the point of this whole community

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My brother in Satan don't assume you know my feelings. I can find something horrifying in an abstract sense without being upset

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"my brother in Christ" is a meme phrase. Also it's not saying you're literally Jesus's brother.

I'm just saying you're criticizing someone for doing the point of the community, that's kinda dumb.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There would be no way I would not know that about the Christ phrase... I joked back.

You're criticizing me for just participating in the intended manner. When you post an unpopular opinion, you get backlash to it. Most of it is good natured. Not sure why you've chosen to assume mine isn't. Not to mention what I was actually taking some issue with here was the volunteered info that OP puts steaming hot shit into the fridge.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah that's kinda fucking wack. I guess if you want cold food that's the fastest way or something but still, unhinged

[–] QuiteQuickQum@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Amazing! Thank you for sharing your stone cold truth!
