/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

  1. “star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you’d explain your situation and they’d be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system’s icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home”

  2. “I’m from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction.” Benjamin Sisko, nodding. “That happened to me once.”

Genuinely? I think I'd have a hard time with the idea of it.

Don't get me wrong, 2026 sucks actual, authentic unwashed ass. I hate it here. But unfortunately, all of my favorite human beings are here, and I don't want to leave them behind.

And since Federation laws won't let me take them with me here, and they also have people they love too much to leave behind, the right choice for me would be to go back. What if I end up being one of the tiny events that makes the change that starts this utopia? Would I risk this awesome future not happening at all, just to be selfish?

I would love to stay. But I couldn't.

Edit: Idk if a yankee is allowed to have a favorite Canadian singer. But Heather Dale covered a pretty awesome song about something kind of like this idea.

Maybe if they could like… let me peak at the time continuum so I knew how to enact the most effective change to move society towards Star Trek futurism I’d accept that as my role and return.

What if I end up being one of the tiny events that makes the change that starts this utopia?

What if you end up being obe of tge tint events that prevents that utopia happening, and only by bringing you forward through time can that be prevented? Maybe they don't even realise that it is only the act of brining you forward in time that allows for the future to unfold as it has for them, so they willingly send you back, destroying their timeline in the process, or at least divering the flow of time away from it.

How would we know, either way? Causality's a bitch, and time travel logic always ends up looking pretty convoluted.

Which is why I think that, opting for the simplest likelihood, the past is immutable. Because the present is proof positive that whatever choice I made was already made. My first logical conclusion was to go home. So if it succeeds, then the future happens and the past doesn't change. If it doesn't succeed, then I was already stuck in the future and my friends in the past will have already lost me.

In either case, I have to try.
