Being honest, I think the techbros and cleptocrats saw Occupy Wall Street and decided the American experiment was over, so the whole bull in a china shop is by design.

Yeah, the problem in Idiocracy is that there was no one intelligent enough to listen to. In reality, there's plenty of intelligence, but few in power listen to the ones trying to better the planet. Theyre all more concerned about accumulating power and the next election cycle. If it doesnt look good, no matter how many it might help, its not worth doing to them.
