You should accept refugees if shit hits the fan, at least temporarily

Heya. I'm a senior network engineer and I shopped around when the last election happened. You'd be surprised how hard immigration is even for in demand talent.
Well, you should know that “shopping around” and “have already completed most of the immigration process and just need sponsorship” are two very different things, and the first one is probably just going to get your resume in the bin.
Commit, then apply.
If you want talent you need to go after it.
