We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Thoughts on the pen's quality? It looks a bit thick and flimsy from the pictures but I'm interested in hearing from someone who tried it. Also, is the thick tip accurate enough for DS games?
Someone should test the stylus with Pokémon Ranger.
Pokemon Art Academy would be a good test too. I've been drawing with that on my 3DS.
It works fine for me!
The original RG DS had a double ended stylus, with a cap over the flat circular...thing for the more detailed games which might requite it. But that's the nature of modern screens: capacitive VS resistive.
The new DS Plus' stylus is a thinner point on it, it is actually far better. Smaller and 'pointier' than others you might be used to, but naturally this is just the nature of the screen and the tech, it might be a huge dealbreaker for some, but no game I've played with it has left me wanting so far.

Nintendo DS I think have more stylus heavy games than the 3DS, and the DSi is still pretty reasonable in price. So I think getting a DSi is worth it. And seems to go around the price of a new triple A title and is easy to mod. There's open source flash carts like the DSpico available, and a DS Pico with IR and PicoWalker said to be coming out too so you don't have to get the official pokewalker and Pokemon cartridge. Those Pokemon cartridges are insane in value so it'll be nice when the DSPico IR version is available for those wanting to utilize pokewalker with it.
If you are just playing Pokemon than stylus responsiveness doesn't matter much, but if you are planning to play stylus heavy games then I think the actual DS is the route to go. DSi XL has the best screen among the DS line with it being dual IPS.
3DS can play 3DS and DS games, but those are like double to triple the price.
