I went back and read some episode recaps looking to tell you which episode it really kicks in to gear. That number I think may be a bit discouraging if I put it that way, but instead I'll say that dang near everything that happens is a clue and the more you pay attention to those slow bits, the better the payoffs should be for you when things click into place.
Ep 4 isn't at its full excitement level, but by then you should be eager to start learning what is going on with some of the storylines, or if not then it may be too slow of a show for you, but everything does pay off IMO.
