This has been in my wallpaper & random image collection for a while. Unfortunately I forgot the name but I remember that they are tiny in real size, just a millimeter or so. Maybe somebody recognizes them?

Slime molds aren't fungi, sadly. OP will now be launched into the sun for their crime
Slime moulds are not in the fungi branch of life? Does that mean they're more closely related to .. um don't know the right words .. vegetables?
No they are neither fungi, plant or animal. They are single celled organisms so more closely related to amoeba or some algae.
Protists, they are protists. And algae is firmly in the plant branch.
Kind of amazing that something of this size and complexity is still a single celled organism.

they will sometimes clump together and move around very much like a slug
