This is equvalent of Germany retaining swastika as state symbol and whining that it's used as symbol of triumph against nazis. Of all symbols under which Japan done genocide and war crimes most are still in use like the state flag, the chrysantemum coat of arms, rising sun flag.
In other words, have you even symbolically tried to not be fascist, Mrs PM?
German eagle would be a better comparison, as the Chrysanthemum long predates 20th century Japanese militarism
