If European leadership had any care for sovereignty over personal enrichment, they'd say "come make us" and force the US to open another front that it can't handle.

European leadership know they fucked around too much with Russia and are now scared to find out, so they are desperate to keep the US on their side and will therefore bend the knee to any demand and humiliation from Washington.
