inb4 the influx of "not all parents are irresponsible/iT's JuSt ThE PoOrS" comments from the parents who will inevitably find this and feel compelled to preach -- we know. I'm sure you specifically are gold star parents who extensively thought about how you would give your kids good and stable lives before you had them. But there are millions of others who didn't and whose kids are growing up into terribly damaged and traumatized adults who may well perpetuate the cycle of generational trauma.

I'm not going into the bad parents aspect but I doubt this is a "generational trend", you are just entering the stage of life where a lot of people want that. I'm guessing you are between early/mid twenties to mid thirties? That's when people mostly have babies. It's not a "generation" it's just where you and who you surround yourself with are in your/their life progress.

You may not want kids, and that's ok. Some people do especially in that age range.

The trend isn't having kids.

The trend is having kids so you can post the baby shower to social media for attention and validation from strangers.

That is generational, as social media has not existed untill quite recently in human history.

The OP pic is specifically describing people who are simply generating content for social media where that content is 'I had a baby!'

You entirely missed the point, the operative concept, the behavior being called out.
