Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

Benjamin J. Davis, born on this day in 1903, was American lawyer and communist who was elected in 1943 to the New York City Council, representing Harlem. Davis was persecuted by the state via the anti-communist Smith and McCarran Acts.
Davis became radicalized through his role as defense attorney in the 1933 trial of Angelo Herndon, a 19-year-old black communist who had been charged "attempting to incite insurrection" because he tried to organize a farm workers' union.
In 1949, Davis was among a number of communist leaders prosecuted for violating the Smith Act. He was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison. In 1962 Davis was charged with violating the Internal Security Act (also known as the McCarran Act), but died before the case could come to trial.

One must not permit his ideas to be shaped by the hysteria which now passes as a 'crusade against Communism'... For example, the canard that every Communist has his pockets lined with 'Moscow gold.' If that were true, one could be sure that there would scarcely be any room in our party for workers. The capitalists, to whom gold is god of the universe, would crowd them out."

You are not wrong in that the white masses have proven to be largely useless and a lost cause. The largely black led movement in 2020 was indeed good but still nothing much, which isn't surprising given it was spontaneous and unorganized. However imo it shows that the racialized masses, as usual, still have revolutionary potential, they just need to be organized and have a communist anti-imperialist basis or else nothing will work. It needs to include the natives who are still very much on the frontlines of water protection unlike no others in the US. Had the BLM movement been organized and marxist it would have been very different even regarding demokkkrat intervention, and would have definatly led to more efefctive action regarding ICE today, but it goes to show that racialized people, even those who aren't politically conscious, will always have the potential for revolution. And you are right that we need to start using the big C word, communism. Socialism in the west has been co-opted and bastardized. It will be a long and arduous process but it is possible and it must happen. The contradictions of capital are never going away and the people will rise even if it has to start small. The BLM protests even tho failing in the end have proven that the average racialized person has more revolutionary potential than pretty much all the white left and it's up to us as communists to educate and agitate. I'm sorry you are feeling down even tho it is very valid and normal these days and this is an important conversation to have, stay strong, you're not alone. None of us here are.
