I feel like a jackass. I built my son's PC with 32 GBs of RAM a couple years ago. My buddy built a new PC and gave me his old 32 GBs, which was the exact same brand and spec of the RAM in my son's PC.
I tried putting in the new RAM but got a boot error immediately. Rather than taking the time to troubleshoot properly and get it working, I just pulled it out and threw it away. I was like "meh, RAM is cheap and always getting cheaper. If I want to upgrade later, I'll just buy more."
Most ram has a lifetime warranty too lol
