As much as I don’t care about sports, I am ok with college sports. Ideally we would have a strong social program for higher education, and even if we do get that, college sports that net profits help pay for the rest of the college. Programs that don’t make money are where many Olympic athletes come from. As long as people don’t loose themselves to it, it’s a way to get money moving. That said, I really want to see pay caps everywhere. What we don’t want to see is money getting thrown at coaches and players to the detriment of other parts of the college.

College coaches make 20-30x Nobel Laureates. They money does NOT go back into education. Universities have become just an excuse for sports leagues.
