People have discussed how they used to have hope in the future of the internet, the "information superhighway" and how it would smash chuds into irrelevancy as the truth became widely accessible to everyone. Obviously 2012-2016-now was a bit of a setback in that as we saw online movements like gamergate and qanon, and even online media like JRE drive a right wing surge that brought Trump to power.
I dont think optimism is a very popular viewpoint on here, but I think it's all jumped the shark. Fascism actually looks pretty fucking ugly on screen, even if you like the idea of it. We know they are all about aesthetics, but without a centralized media apparatus they have pretty much nothing to run with. Anytime they press lies or spin the truth, it just reduces their trustworthiness.
