If I were to hazard a guess at how these sorts of things get made (or used too, before AI), they'd be ghostwritten by a writer desperate for any sort of work who usually gets paid by the page or chapter and is just given specific things they need to mention in the story, usually with very tight deadlines, so they have to basically just use the first draft for everything and awkwardly shoehorn in the stuff the client wants, regardless of how little sense it makes or how badly it hurts the flow of the story. I've been hired to draw a comic or two for clients in a similar way (though thankfully nothing this awful).
