i struggle to understand why it's accepted that the epstein oligarchy would expend resources on pro-narrative art; but that they wouldn't do the same thing with social media platforms.

A lot of people in the west really drink the whole 'free society' koolaid and think western nations are just too enlightened to manipulate public opinion in that way. It's something evil authoritarian regimes like China or DPRK would do, couldn't possibly happen here.

i don't blame them; you can easily wrap your head around a maga echo chamber, but it's much harder to do the same for an echo chamber that encompasses the entire global north plus its periphery if you're not even aware it exists to begin with.
