7-11 will quite literally scan the barcode on your ID / Driver’s licenses, wonder what kind of information they get from it.

It's been a while since I've gone to a 7-11, but I don't remember them doing that.

What excuse do they have to scan (or even look at) your ID?

Generally exactly the same info that's on the card minus a picture since the pic is to much for the barcode or magstripe.

It's basically just all the same info that's printed on the front. You can scan it yourself with certain barcode reader apps.
