The most likely reason the actress was portrayed as unshaven was because women are overwhelmingly presented as hairless in media. Not because some people have naturally light hair.
OK, nothing I have said is against that point. So your point is fuck me for adding to the conversation or what?
I already explained why I replied to your comment - the reason this actress is portrayed as hairless is because we live in a patriarchal society that has strict gender expressions for women and that includes being hairless.
I wish that the conversation could be around the differences in people's bodies instead of the media presenting a very specific image of how women are supposed to present.
I started this thread talking about body hair differences you’re the one who tried to change the subject. Be the change you want to see in the world.
I am.
How? You described wanting to live in a world where we could talk about body hair differences and yet you’re the person who wasn’t talking about body hair differences.
Because this actress was still portrayed as hairless despite the circumstances the show set up.
Show me where it's normalized to show women with body hair in media.
Fun fact: I don’t have to show you shit to leave a comment talking about my spouse’s nearly transparent arm hair.
Seriously, are you doing OK? In the last couple of weeks I have noticed you seeming to be ultra pedantic and quick to get into cyclical arguments. Maybe I just didn’t notice it before because I didn’t disagree with whatever you were commenting. IDK.
I took your initial comment as defending the show's choice to continue to push the narrative that it's normal for all women to be hairless.
Considering another commenter came in to say that armpit hair is the same as ass hair caked in literal shit, yeah, I'm being a little defensive.
I'm sorry.
I am also guilty of jumping to the defense of things and making assumptions. I appreciate your apology and I hope you have a great day!
Thanks for accepting it and I hope you have a good day, too!
