Political Memes

In my experience here locally, rural area in the southern USA, I haven't been hearing anybody harping on the Muslim angle in person. Certainly not even a tiny fraction of the amount these people did and still do with Obama. Now, I don't follow these folks online to see what they're posting there, so I'm going solely by the comments they are willing to take offline and say in person.

Obviously this is a fickle cult and the boogie-man du jour changes faster than I can keep up, but pretty much since primary season started, they've been going hard and heavy with "Communist". Anything that's in direct contrast to the Trump and Republican agenda, communism. Every problem in the world is due to communism. Well that's a lie. But obviously the prior boogie-persons du jour are too (trans, immigrants, fact checking). Everybody that does not like what's going on in this country is a communist.

There's a DINO Republican running under the Dem ticket in a district close enough to mine that I get opposition ads online and in streaming stuff -- they're even calling him a woke Communist supporter. The Dems in his area aren't terribly fond of the guy, his policies are all middle of the road centrist Republican aligned with the exception that he is a staunch Trump opponent. And yet that D beside his name on the ballot is enough that they're trying to hang those buzzwords around his neck -- woke communist.

Having said that, my new number had been added to some kind of seemingly Christian Nationalist text group (presumably prior to me getting it, but who knows?). I didn't notice for a while because I just ignored the texts. Then one day I was cleaning out all the random mess and decided to look at what was being sent. Yes, those folks are very much anti-Muslim, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the the "He's a Muslim" being pandered to that crowd.
