You said that trans people are demanding—asking for as though it was their right—the attention of others. I think it's clear why that's being objected to. Most queer people just want to live their lives without being harassed for who they are.

If that wasn't what you meant, then you used the wrong word. I suspect you actually wanted one of the more obscure meanings of commanding: involuntarily drawing attention due to position.

What are you saying then? That the media shouldn't focus so negatively on marginalized social groups?

Work on your phrasing then, because otherwise you come across negatively TOWARDS the marginalized groups.
