Firefox users were choosing Startpage long before today — to the tune of more than a billion searches a year, every one of them required some assembly: an extension, a manual setting, a workaround.

Today, starting with Firefox 154, that choice becomes as easy as head to the drop-down menu, hit ‘select,’ and start searching. Startpage is now a built-in search option for Firefox users on desktop in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Android and iOS are coming soon. Whether you want to search with Startpage, or another preferred search engine, it’s as easy as opening your search settings, picking a default, and done.

And if you’re happy with your current search engine, nothing about your setup changes.

Das war rein mein überwältigend negatives Bias gegen neue Mozilla Features. Musste erstmal gucken was es wirklich ist...

Sieht aus wie ein holländisches DuckDuckGo. Hab ich jetz nix auszusetzen dran. Für nur eine neue Default Suchmaschine wirkt der Blogartikel deutlich überhyped.

Ist jetzt keine Kritik an StartPage, aber bis es zum Oligopol der Such-Indexe eine unabhängige Alternative gibt wird mich in der Sparte nix vom Hocker holen.

Ich glaube nicht das es der neue default ist, da wird Google schon noch genug bezahlen. Es ist einfach nur eine neue Option die man auswählen kann und die man nicht löschen sondern nur deaktivieren kann (warum???) wie bisher such schon bei Bing, DDG, Ecosia und Wikipedia.

Hab es ein Jahrzehnt nicht mehr genutzt, ist es denn noch gut? Ich suche dringend eine nicht-versloppte Suchmaschine.
