Cops shooting is like my pair of dogs. One thinks they mighta heard something, better give a bark about it! Ya know just in case, might be scary!

Other one (having exactly zero idea of any reason for first bark) says "oh shit something is going down, I'ma baaaaark!"

Original dog goes "oh shit oh shit I knew something was up, best friend is going bananas about something too, I better fucking BAAAARK"

Dumbass packs of stray cops do exactly that (with guns) all the time, it's obviously core training. Shooting backwards while falling and running from nothing (possibly a vacuum, to be charitable to dogs) would make even my dogs embarrassed tho, yeeeesh.

(Btw they call us "civilians", not "the general public", and according to them, those of us that aren't probably-secretly bad-guys, are unfortunate future statistics that sometimes pay the ultimate sacrifice while they do their big-boy duty 🤮)
