I think the average american doesn't really think of Mexico as a real country in the way they think of european countries as countries, and so it wouldn't have much weight on political discussions the way it would if we had socialist France or something.

I think the US DemSocs would platform it. One of them did that today (directly reference Sheinbaum as elevating the living standards of the Mexican people) when he was being interviewed on Fox News. If you live in the States "didn't you hear Mexico is getting universal Healthcare?" Is a great conversation starter.

China is being taken more seriously by the US left every day, and that's been US since covid and ramping up in the past 3 years with things like the tiktok/rednote crossover.
