This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
- Keep the comments in YPTB posts about the moderation action itself, not about the general topic in which the moderation took place.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

FWIW, I had nothing to do with this and I'm sorry this happened to you.
But also, you didn't rebuke me, I wasnt even aware of that comment until somebody notified me about this post and I followed the link above. Usually when you rebuke someone, you reprimand them directly. That was just you talking ill of me in a completely random thread with 14 upvotes that I obviously never would have seen unless I was stalking your comment history. But you're clearly trying to paint a certain picture with this post, so I understand why you phrased it that way.
Regarding my ban for transphobic comments, I'd just like to note that the comments in question were in defense of statements made by Nutomic. So whatever judgments you make about me and my server should logically apply to lemmy.ml as well. Let's also keep in mind that the comments were not made on a dbzer0 community, but they decided to blanket permaban me regardless. Here is the thread in question.
Also, you can see that I never did anything about this user. The name of this community has become so ironic it's wild. I'm quite possibly the least power tripping moderator on Lemmy, you can literally tell me to kill myself and you won't even get banned.
Lastly, I'd like to encourage all of the users who upvoted this post and commented here, as well as OP, to reassess what just happened. You're passing sweeping moral judgments and making significant decisions based on "information" that is purely imaginary. You aren't even doing the bare minimum of diligence to verify whether the post that you are reading is actually true. The actual evidence is non-existent, and even the circumstantial evidence makes very little sense if you think about it for a second.
I know you'll probably just call me a liar but maybe somebody will actually re-evaluate their behavior for once. I'm not holding my breath but it doesn't hurt to try. I bear no ill will towards you or anyone, I simply try to identify what I believe to be true, and fight back against people when they spread falsehoods. One of those falsehoods was when people were calling Nutomic transphobic, and I thought that was untrue. Now I'm banned for being transphobic. Surely you can figure out how this chain of events ends, with an echo chamber where anyone who questions the narrative is immediately exiled. It's not a wise course of action, IMHO.

Trans women are women, and they should be allowed to identify as such, fully participate in women's sports, have use of women's restrooms and other facilites, and be able to join women's organisations. Do you agree with this comment or not?
I believe you regarding the modlog harassment unless good evidence countering that belief shows up.
Thank you for linking the threads/comments in question. Our eyes aren't seeing the same things somehow, when it comes to Nutomic, but I'm far less charitable in judgement when it comes to tankies. Or those who willingly work alongside them or excuse their bullshit as you are doing. There's reason I moved account to Piefed from SJW (because it uses Lemmy software and because of who debelops it, not due to any SJW specific drama) and there's Rimu reasons I dumped Piefed for Pylova. Would I consider you yourself transphobic just based on this? No, but I see why others do. Apologist? Yes. Will I move communities? I'll sleep on it and see what the other responses to you say too.
