Unfortunately the death of CUSMA would destroy many Canadian small businesses, my own included. Nobody would buy my product if it suddenly shot up 20%-50% in price, even though there's no American alternative.

I'd rather we keep the fight up, but if we can get some leverage and buy time for US politics to shift, it'll probably be worth it.

Problem is the federal government is not in charge of alcohol sales. That is a provincial decision.

Thankfully it's just a passion side project for me, I'm willing to take the loss and close it down if I need to. Many Canadians aren't so lucky.

It's not about US politics shifting. We're buying time to decouple our economies. If you are waiting for a return to normalcy with the US, you are going to be sorely mistaken.

Well I pay more to get stuff from Canadian suppliers without using Amazon.

But I'm lucky to have the option to make that choice.

US politics is never shifting back. If I had a business that relied on American suppliers, I would find suppliers in the EU or Asia or find a new line of work.
